| City of Roslyn, WA is accepting applications for temporary seasonal (at will) staff to assist with Fire Adapted Community activities during the 2026 summer season. These positions will be filled through an interview and qualification check process established by the Department. Wage: Entry Level FFT2 $23.85-26.29/ hr. FFT1 $24.90-27.46/ hr DOE. CRWB or ENGB $29.14- $32.13/ hr DOE. As these are temporary, seasonal positions, City benefits are not included. Application Closes: When positions filled. Employment Term: TBD, but the season is typically April 1st to October 31st. Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:00am-5:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm is the standard schedule. However, due to the nature of the work, fire calls, and state mobilizations employees must be available to respond when called. Deployment on local initial attack and/ or State Fire Marshal Mobilizations will be REQUIRED for most positions. Description: Following the guidance of the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy, perform a variety of wildfire specific activities that assist our community to prepare for, respond to, and recover from future wildfire events. Duties involve fieldwork requiring physical performance calling for above-average endurance and superior conditioning. These duties may include an occasional demand for extraordinarily strenuous activities in emergencies under adverse environmental conditions and over extended periods of time. The position may require running, walking, climbing, jumping, twisting, bending, and lifting more than 50 pounds; the pace of the work is set by the emergency situation. In general, duties may include clearing and thinning brush, marking and felling hazardous trees, and other fuels-reduction activities as required. Requirements: No prior fire experience is required for the FFT2 position. However, prior to the first day of work applicants must have successfully completed the following on-line National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) classes: S-130, S-190, and L-180 and the following on-line National Incident Management System (NIMS) classes: ICS-100, 200, IS-700, and IS-800. All applicants must be able to complete an arduous Work Capacity Test (WCT), which entails carrying a 45-pound pack for three miles in under 45 minutes. All applicants must have a valid WA State Driver’s License and a physical exam from a doctor will be required.
