| FIRE COMMISSIONER APPOINTMENT
The nomination period is open to appoint a Fire Commissioner to the unexpired term for position 3 for Kittitas County Fire District 7. The Board is currently accepting nominations for well-qualified and motivated individuals to fill this term ending in December 2027. No public safety or fire service experience is required, but the desired candidate should have experience on boards and organizations; oversight of budgets; development of policies and strategic plans; setting performance expectations and accountability; civic involvement in the community; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and the desire to represent District residents in the delivery of service according to the District’s Mission, Vision and Values. The District has received four nominations to date, and is now seeking additional nominations from the public as outlined in RCW 42.12.080. For public office, state law requires that candidates must be a United States citizen; 18 years of age or older; registered voter within District 7 with at least 30-days residency; and not incarcerated for a felony. To apply for this position, candidates must submit a one-page letter of interest and one-page resume outlining their desire, experience, skills, education, civic involvement and other desired traits by Tuesday April 7, 2026 at 5PM to the District Secretary at emicallef@kcfd7.org. The Board plans to conduct open public interviews at a meeting on April 9, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. with possible appointment at the regular meeting on April 16, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Questions?
